Congregation to Congregation Relationships & Other Special Connections in the Greater Milwaukee Synod

Congregations within the Greater Milwaukee Synod have the opportunity to participate in the Sister Parish Program of the Salvadoran Lutheran Church. There are currently eleven Milwaukee area congregations who have relationships with congregations in El Salvador. These congregations have members who serve on the synod committee, provide leadership for educational events, serve as guest speakers throughout our synod, participate in delegation trips to El Salvador, host visitors from El Salvador, work to support the ministries of the greater Salvadoran Lutheran Church, and are incredibly blessed by having strong relationships with communities, congregations and families in El Salvador.

Other congregations in our synod are connected with partnership ministries in El Salvador in different ways:

  • Trinity, Kenosha has active representation on the synod committee and supports educational events
  • Mount Hope, West Allis has active representation on the synod committee and supports healing ministries and educational events
  • Redeemer, Milwaukee has active representation on the synod committee and is home to Pastor Betty Baires, a missionary pastor from El Salvador who is serving in Milwaukee
  • Ascension, Milwaukee has active representation on the synod committee and is home to Pastor Walter Baires, a missionary pastor from El Salvador who is serving in Milwaukee
  • Hephatha, Milwaukee has active representation on the synod committee, supports educational events and strongly supports the Salvadoran Lutheran Church Pastors Endowment Fund
